Public Sphere |
- As defined on Wikipedia |
The public sphere is an area in social life where people can get together and freely discuss and identify societal problems, and through that discussion influence political action. It is "a discursive space in which individuals and groups congregate to discuss matters of mutual interest and, where possible, to reach a common judgment." The public sphere can be seen as "a theater in modern societies in which political participation is enacted through the medium of talk" and "a realm of social life in which public opinion can be formed".
Revolution in Common Sense or Quantum MetaPhysics
By Joachim E. Wolf
Our common sense is not a reliable basis for correct judgments. There is no common sense on which all people agree. With time, major shifts occur in what people believe to be true, resulting in revolutionary changes in society.
Stephen Toulmin
In Reason in Ethics (1950), his doctoral dissertation, Toulmin sets out a Good Reasons approach of ethics, and criticizes the subjectivism and emotivism of philosophers who fails to do justice to ethical reasoning.
Synergetics, Tensegrity (Buckminster Fuller)
From Wikepedia
Tensegrity is a portmanteau of tensional integrity. It refers to structures with an integrity based on a synergy between balanced tension and compression components.
In 1981 at age 85 Buckminster Fuller published his book called, Critical Path. Fullers vision for utilizing technology for social improvement was years ahead of the time. In perspective, 1981 was the birth year of the personal computer.

It is sad to say that 26 years after Fuller's death, computer technologies has not progressed much in the realm of argument theory. The Do Good Gauge is an attempt to extend Bucky's ideas.
Transdisciplinarity
From Wikipedia
"Transdisciplinarity connotes a research strategy that crosses many disciplinary boundaries to create a holistic approach. It applies to research efforts focused on problems that cross the boundaries of two or more disciplines, such as research on effective information systems for biomedical research (see bioinformatics), and can refer to concepts or methods that were originally developed by one discipline, but are now used by several others, such as ethnography, a field research method originally developed in anthropology but now widely used by other disciplines."
"Transdisciplinarity is also used to signify a unity of knowledge beyond disciplines" -- Nicolescu 20
